Goodland, KS – The Sherman County Community Foundation (SCCF), in partnership with Sherman County Community Development (SCCD), is proud to announce that Dawson Raymer is the first recipient of the Welcome Back Grant. Raymer has returned to Goodland to accept a teaching and coaching position with USD 352, and the grant will provide support as he settles back into the community.
The Welcome Back Grant is funded through the Economic Impact Fund for Sherman County, held with SCCF and this grant supports graduates of Goodland High School or Fort Hays Tech Northwest who choose to return to Sherman County to live and work.
By investing in individuals who bring their skills and talents back home, the program strengthens the local workforce and contributes to Sherman County’s long-term vitality. By covering expenses such as moving costs, student loan payments, or initial housing expenses, this grant helps ease the transition for returning graduates
“It is more than just financial assistance,” said Tina Wolak, Executive Director of SCCF. “It’s about showing our returning graduates that Sherman County not only welcomes them back but values their decision to invest their future here.”
The Economic Impact Fund for Sherman County was created to fuel innovative programs like this—initiatives that address workforce needs, encourage economic growth, and build a stronger, more sustainable future for the county.
