How to Donate Grain

  1. Inform Your Ele­va­tor: Noti­fy your grain ele­va­tor of your inten­tion to donate a spe­cif­ic quan­ti­ty of grain to the Sher­man Coun­ty Com­mu­ni­ty Foun­da­tion. Pro­vide them with our con­tact infor­ma­tion: 785–728-7800 or info@shermanccf.org. 
  2. Trans­fer Own­er­ship: Deliv­er the grain to your ele­va­tor and request them to trans­fer own­er­ship to the Sher­man Coun­ty Com­mu­ni­ty Foun­da­tion in care of Greater North­west Kansas Com­mu­ni­ty Foun­da­tion. Ensure the grain is trans­ferred before it is sold to qual­i­fy as a dona­tion.
  3. Com­plete the Dona­tion: The ele­va­tor will issue a ware­house receipt to the com­mu­ni­ty foun­da­tion, which will then sell the grain. The pro­ceeds will be direct­ed to the fund or char­i­ty of your choice. We will be in touch with you.
  4. Receive a Receipt: Once the grain is sold, we will send you a receipt for your dona­tion, which you can use for tax pur­pos­es.

When you deliv­er the grain, you sim­ply deter­mine how many bushels or a dol­lar amount you’d like to give, and fill out an ele­va­tor dona­tion form that trans­fers the sale of the crop to the Foun­da­tion.
